Wellington, FL - Today, Guido Weiss (FL-21) released the following statement after joining dozens of bipartisan Florida candidates in writing to Governor DeSantis on the ballot requirements and timeline during the COVID-19 coronavirus crisis.
"In these troubling times, with the health of our people under attack, let us make sure that our democracy is not also under attack. We are asking Gov. DeSantis for an extended deadline, reductions in petition number requirements, and decreased qualification fees to ensure that this year's election will remain fair and democratic," said Guido. "My opponent Rep. Lois Frankel is a career politician with over a million dollars stashed away for a rainy election day. I, like dozens of other grassroots candidates in Florida, do not have the reserves or even the opportunity to hold fundraisers during these times to be competitive for a meaningful election. The adjustments in our letter are needed to honor the importance of our democracy."
